A magazine for the learning and use of skills for the protection of our peoples - this issue has report backs about Six Nations, a call to resist the assimilation of first nations, a piece on neocolonialism, and one on violence against indigenous women and children, explained as a legacy of colonialism and apartheid. Illustrated throughout by Zigzag's dramatic black and white drawings, this magazine is a powerful statement that transcends others of its ilk.
Zigzag: In 1990 the Oka Crisis occurred and this had a profound effect on me due to my Indigenous ancestry (Kwakwaka’wakw, also known as Kwakiutl). It made me proud to see my people standing up and resisting the state. From this point on I have worked primarily on Indigenous resistance … I will always be an anarchist, that is: against rulers.
