Addiction and Sobriety Beyond Recovery

The expectations that this world puts on us are often too much to handle. The policing is too much to bear. The acceptable forms of expression are never enough. The lack of true bonds among creatures is heartbreaking. Everywhere we turn, our eyes see devastation. It is no surprise that so many of us need drugs or alcohol to survive; the alternative is often [more] debilitating. We push on nonetheless. We commit ourselves to a struggle against this world and the ways it forces addictions on us.
We begin to build something new.

Reflections here on some issues and implications of 12 step programs, on addiction as a process and product of isolation, some harsh consequences of becoming sober, and a lot more. Thoughtful, non-judgmental, anarchist.
